All one-ply
items contain 70% pashmina and 30% silk, and two-ply items
contain 80%
pashmina and 20% silk. For two-toned items, please add 10% to
the prices listed above.
Throws are available in twill and herringbone weave
designs,
and blankets are available in twill
weave only. All our items have the standard 3 inch long twisted and
knotted fringe unless you
specify otherwise. Other options include a 1" base knot fringe and a satin
silk binding.
Our yarns for the fall/winter 2007 season are absolutely the highest quality
available.
This quality is not
being used by other manufacturers. The fibers average <14.0 microns in
width and 34-36mm in length. The fibers used in 90% of all silk/pashmina shawls made today
average >15.5 microns in width and 28-32 mm in length. Many of these low quality shawls also
contain wool and/or angora fibers. These shawls are brushed to raise the nap while shawls
made
with superior yarns
do not need this treatment. Shawls made with short fiber
yarns shed and pill. Longer fibers allow for a lower twist in the yarn, which results in a
softer,
more buoyant and supple shawl. The longer fiber yarns do not pill and shed like the shorter
fiber yarns.
